Artful sensory experiences for little creators
Where Creativity Takes Flight ✨

Hello Creative People, Families, Caregivers, and f Hello Creative People, Families, Caregivers, and friends! ☀️ Summer is near! If you are still looking to create some experiences that build confidence, outlet energy, build-in social time, maintain learning skills, or to just get a breather, register and see the sweetest things unfold. Some Chrysalis community-building events are also in the works! Thank you for following along. With ❤️, Kristin (founder/owner)

Now onto the fun, for-reels! We had a blast stamping bright, beautiful flower arrangements with paint and gallon bags filled with water. Our bags had a purple hue because we used from a previous project with a little leftover pink and blue paint. Gotta love teachable moments.

After testing on paper, our artists stamped on canvas and cut loose with some rapid spreading and “smushing”! (That’s a technical term.) They designed cardboard vases with markers and oil pastels and an impromptu move to add artificial flowers and leaves from one of our sensory bins. There was also some mindfulness and fine motor work happening, and the possibilities were endless!

Dreamy Shape Mobiles, free-spirited Shape people, Dreamy Shape Mobiles, free-spirited Shape people, and fun texturing techniques were on the agenda this week at the Chrysalis Craft Club! We started by using good old fashioned golf balls and cars, as well as drops of paint to roll and create surprising textures on precut shapes. The collaboration and giggles were the highlight for sure! While the shapes dried, we dove into next steps.

Dreamy Shape Mobiles ☁️⭐️Our generous chrysalis tree provided sticks that our little artists wrapped in yarn. I attached three thin colorful strings and that’s where the beads and shapes brought the creations to life.

Groovy Shape People🕺🏻All it took were two craft sticks, tape, googly eyes (which you can never use enough), homemade shape shirts, foam blue zebra pants are we were in business!

The site is being updated often, including a new 2 hour drop off class for some ages, perfect for filling in summer gaps where screen-free creativity is needed. Visit Chrysaliscraftclub.com.

Sweet treats and a mini throwback to dino fun, wit Sweet treats and a mini throwback to dino fun, with even sweeter company...🍭🧁 Many thanks to @kidfriendlythingstodo for the idea to wrap small styrofoam balls with tissue paper and top with “cherry”pom poms for the cupcakes! It is a blessing to see expanded ideas of my little creators while experimenting with the gem sprinkles and the painting of paper “wrapper” cups. A mama’s loving hands and her little’s hands creating and seeing surprises together is a precious gift. ✨

A Spin on the 3 Marker Challenge!🖍️🖍️🖍️: My kids e A Spin on the 3 Marker Challenge!🖍️🖍️🖍️: My kids enjoy doing simple 3 marker challenges (close your eyes, pick three markers, draw or color a picture). When I saw this spinner (no brand name or box provided) on a trip to the thrift store, I started dreaming up lots of uses and a spin on the 3 marker challenge was the first. My almost five-year-old insisted that I spin only one color and take three markers in the gradient of that color. It was such a clever way to identify, sort and compare colors, and it kept us engaged for quite awhile at a sibling’s softball practice! We also made one at home and your little creator can too. Draw a circle with lines like a pie chart, color each piece a different color, and spin with a pencil or paintbrush and a paper clip. We used brush markers for our drawings and decided on two themes: “Cute” and “Fruit”. I’m proud to claim the teal magestic Snozzleberry person on roller skates. Eat it and it will make you sneeze. I love how simple interactive projects alongside of children still very in touch with their internal creative sparks keep me imagining too. What might your child spin and create in a Chrysalis class ?🍒🍓🍎🍉

It was all about Dino’s and Unicorns this week at It was all about Dino’s and Unicorns this week at the Chrysalis Craft Club, a magical collab from the start! 🦖🦄 We explored origami paper and watercolors, squishy blocks and tempera paint, rainbow scratch paper and cardboard, spiked mohawks and rainbow manes, paper towel volcanos and swirly paint portals, play dough and gem mines. Each creation transformed and our sweet artists decided on little details that made it their own. The same template for the body yielded different perspectives. Which does your #littlecreator embody more at the moment!? 🦕 or 🦄?

I had to name this sweet explorer, Clementine 🍊🐛, I had to name this sweet explorer, Clementine 🍊🐛, inspired by this beautiful accompanying tune/nod to the old folk ballad. While working on our Chrysalis Tree, which will welcome #littlecreators to class🎨, Clementine emerged. It was just the two of us for a bit and felt like a sign and message to pause. I felt a connection as I sat quietly, observed, and noticed an unexpected trek among beautiful colors, textures and the scattered feelings that come with the unknown. It aligned for me as I take a leap into the process of trusting, trying, falling, rising, learning, loving, and appreciating, aka Living. 🌱 Nature and art have a way of helping me settle and slow down. When I left the space and then returned, Clementine was gone. I suppose a leap was taken and while it may be our first and last visit, the sweet moment will stay with me. ❤️, Kristin (founder/educator at Chrysalis Craft Club)

Thank you @artbarblog for your painted tree post, which inspired an on-going project that has already brought so much joy.
